C+C: Early Mk3 Escort

Those not content with last week’s Cheap and Cheerful MK2 Astra, which sold as the article came to be published, should look no further than here. Swiftly on from a GM product to a rival by Ford. The Mk3 Escort is a disappearing beast on Britain’s roads, with well maintained examples slowly creeping up in price.

We’ve found a pre-facelift 1982 MK3 with the 1.3 engine in Ghia trim. Finished in silver, this ‘Scort is certainly not without the usual dings and minor rust patches. The owner does assure us that structurally it’s fantastic, as a recent pass in the MOT test would entail. The floor has also never been welded. Only 65,000 miles are on the clock and the early light blue interior is in excellent condition.

A new exhaust has been fitted, the timing belt changed 6,000 miles ago and a recent service has been carried out. Old skool Ford fanatics should certainly read more into this. Not often does a car in this condition come with a 12 month MOT for this price. A great run around and an even better investment opportunity in the making.
