Get your goggles on as another beautiful classic has been swiped from below the owner’s nose!

This 1978 Ford Escort RS 2000 was stolen this morning from Chirnside, Berwickshire. The rally spec RS 2000 has competed in some competitions and is well known to the Berwick and District Motor Club, of which it has the club name printed on the sun-strip in the windscreen. The British classic is finished in bright yellow and is registered with the plate; “BMA711S”. Under the bonnet is a 2.0-litre Pinto engine, with extras including; two fuel tanks in the rear, a roll cage, bucket seats with Sabelt harnesses and also the mounting points for front spotlights.

Please help reunite this classic with its loving owner, and call Archie Simmonds on 01890818425 with any information related to sightings.

Update: 09/12/2014 00:28 – Potentially spotted yesterday afternoon heading south on the M74 around Beattock – Lockerbie.

Update: 22/12/2014 20:58 – Vehicle has been recovered, but was being stripped for parts in Edinburgh. Although not in perfect condition, this is still great news for the owner to have it returned. Another victory for the internet!

Update: 04/01/2014 21:42 – Images have recently emerged online of the current state of the vehicle, which appear worse than originally reported. Car was allegedly located as the suspect refuelled using a personal credit card. Certainly a tainted victory for the owner.
